Bringing a new baby home is a beautiful, whirlwind experience. The days are blurry, the snuggles are sweet, and honestly, the thought of packing up a diaper bag, a sleeping baby, and yourself to head to a traditional photo studio can feel incredibly overwhelming.

That is exactly why I specialize in in-home lifestyle newborn photography right here in O'Fallon, MO, and the surrounding St. Charles County area.

Instead of stiff poses, bright studio lights, and rigid props, lifestyle photography focuses on the authentic, unscripted beauty of your new life together. It’s about capturing your family in the place where you feel safest and most comfortable: your own home.

If you are wondering what a session looks like, here is exactly what you can expect when we work together:

1. Comfort is the Priority (For Baby and You)

First and foremost, there is no rush. Newborns run the show, and I completely expect them to! If the baby needs to nurse, bottle-feed, or have a blowout diaper change right in the middle of our session, we stop and take care of it.

Because we are in your home, you have everything you need right at your fingertips. There’s no stress about sticking to a rigid timeline. We move at your baby's pace.

2. We Use the Rooms with the Best Natural Light

You don’t need a picture-perfect, Pinterest-ready house for a beautiful lifestyle session. Before we start shooting, I’ll take a quick walk through your home to find the spots with the best natural light.

Usually, we end up spending most of our time in:

  • The Master Bedroom: Perfect for cozy family cuddles on the bed.
  • The Nursery: To capture all those beautiful details you lovingly put together.
  • The Living Room: Where you can relax on the couch together as a family.

A Quick Tip for Parents: Don’t stress about cleaning your whole house! Just focus on clearing off the bedside tables in the master bedroom and tidying up the nursery. Anything else can easily be pushed out of the frame while I’m there.

3. Gentle Guidance Over Stiff Posing

If you’re worried about what to do with your hands or how to look natural on camera, don't be. While lifestyle photography is all about capturing real, candid moments, I won't just leave you hanging.

I use "gentle prompting" rather than rigid posing. I'll get you into a comfortable spot with great light, and then encourage you to interact with your baby—looking at them, kissing their little forehead, or laughing together. The best shots are always the ones where you forget the camera is even there.

4. Capturing the Little Details

Your baby changes so fast in those first few weeks. Beyond the big family portraits, I make sure to capture the fleeting little details you’ll want to remember forever:

Flaky little newborn toes and tiny fingers.

The way they yawn or stretch when unwrapped.

The quiet, tender glances between mom and dad.

Slightly older siblings or fur-babies interacting with the newest family member.

Ready to Book Your O'Fallon Newborn Session?

The newborn phase passes by in the blink of an eye. If you are looking for a relaxed, meaningful way to preserve these first precious memories without the stress of leaving the house, an in-home lifestyle session might be the perfect fit for your family.

I love serving families across O'Fallon, St. Charles, and the greater St. Louis area. Because newborn sessions are best captured within the first two to three weeks after birth, I highly recommend reaching out during your second or third trimester to secure a spot on my calendar around your due date.
